Twelve Weeks Old

Thursday, May 1st, 2008

As you probably noticed, I didn’t take pictures last night. The girls were all very tired and grumpy after vaccinations and a routine blood draw to do a FeLV/FIV test at the vet’s office yesterday afternoon. So I let them snuggle up in the blankets and take naps. They returned the favor by letting me take group photos tonight. Here’s one I think is amusing because they all posed alike.

Winter Gifts 12 weeks

There is another one on the website along with their individual pictures.

The vet appointment went fine — everyone is right at, or just short of 3 pounds. Just right for their age. They behaved very well and were declared “perfect”. The FeLV/FIV test — done routinely for each litter — was negative as expected.

Kefira, who has weaned the kittens, has taken a page from Kalispell’s book and has been regularly “killing” the pink plastic baby spoon and calling to the babies. Apparently her lessons in hunting are sinking in, as I’ve seen the little girls carrying the pink spoon around, too. Luckily, they all like “killing” toy mice, so I don’t think they are completely domesticated yet. LOL!

In other developmental milestones, they all have started getting up on the dining room table — and often nap there. I apologize to their new owners for letting them learn bad habits, but it’s impossible to keep everyone off the table and counters. I try harder when it comes to counters (yes, they can get up there, too) but since we don’t eat at the table all the much, I don’t fuss a lot about it. It’s Bug’s favorite place to nap, after all!

One last thing… I added a picture of Merrick to yesterday’s post so if you want to see him, he’s there now.
