TICA Titles

Friday, September 28th, 2007

Wading into the murky waters (for me anyway) of TICA titles today. It’s not that I don’t understand them, it’s that I always have to look everything up because I don’t show in TICA much. I’ll give explaining the titles my best shot and I’m sure if I get something wrong Jim will be happy to correct me. :-)

In TICA Championship class (unspayed and unneutered adults) earns Champion titles: Champion (CH), Grand Champion (GC), Double Grand Champion (DGC), Triple Grand Champion (TGC), Quadruple Grand Champion (QGC), and Supreme Grand Champion (SGC). Add the word Alter to those titles for the spayed and neutered cats competing in Alter class. For example: Grand Champion Alter (GCA) . In TICA, HHPs (remember those Household Pets?) also earn titles. The Master (MS) title is equivalent to the Champion title, with the additional titles being GRM, DGM, TGB, QGM, and SGM.

How cats earn the titles is completely different from CFA, so try to push my previous title discussion from your mind and start a new line of thinking. In TICA, the judges do not know the titles of the cats competing. Each cat is judged first against other cats of the same breed and same color class with the top 5 in the color class earning points. Note that if your cat is the only silver tabby in the color class he will still earn the points for the class although he didn’t beat another cat. After hanging all the color class ribbons, the judge then awards the best of division/breed ribbons. The top three in the division/breed earn more points toward titles. Again, even if your cat is the only one of his breed there, he will earn the points for being best. When the final is announced for the ring and your cat is one of the top cats in the ring, he will earn more points. For example, your cat is Best of Color (BOC), Best of Division (BOD), and 8th Best AB Cat in Ring 5. He will earn 25 + 25 + 130 points for a total of 180 points in that ring.

To earn the title CH (or CHA or MS — the points are the same regardless of class) in most of the TICA world a cat must earn 300 points from four different judges and be in one final.  To be a GC, he must earn 1000 points and be in 6 finals — three of which must be either top 5 Specialty (LH or SH) finals or top 10 AB finals. To be a DGC, he needs 2000 points plus one more final in the top 5 SP or top 10 AB. A TGC has to earn 3000 points, plus another  top 5 SP or top 10 AB final. A QGC needs 4000 points plus another  top 5 SP or top 10 AB final. The crowning achievement is the Supreme title (SGC/SGCA/SGM) and that requires 6000 points, plus a Best AB Cat or Best LH/SH Cat final after he or she has already earned the QGC/QGCA/QGM title. So if your cat received a Best Cat rosette early in his title quest, he still must earn at least one more after becoming a Quadruple Grand to become a Supreme.

Like the Grand parties at a CFA show, you’ll see people celebrating Supremes at TICA shows.

BTW, Fin — I added up his points today — is a CH in TICA. :-)

TICA also has RW titles. Regional titles are awarded to the top 20 cats, kittens, alters, HHP kittens, HHP adults, plus the top 20 LH cats and top 20 SH cats in each region. International Winner (IW) awards are given to the top 20 cats, kittens, alters, HHP kittens, HHP adults, plus the top 20 LH and top 20 SH cats in all of TICA for the show season. The IW award is comparable to the CFA NW award.

There’s one more title in TICA for show cats — the Lifetime Achievement (LA) title. This is given to a cat who has earned a combination of three RW/IW titles, of which at least one must be an IW. Note that if a kitten is both a RW and an IW in kitten class, that only counts as one of the required three. However, he could earn a IW as a kitten and a RW as an adult in the same year, then the next year earn another IW or RW to get that LA title. This title provides some incentive to keep showing your cat after he or she has Supremed and earned a RW or IW title. In CFA, there’s not much reason for taking that cat out after earning a RW or NW unless he is being showing in a new class — like going into Championship or retiring from breeding and now being shown in Premiership.

One other difference between the associations is the number of rings used for calculating points. In championship and alter class the cat keeps his top 50 ring scores. In kitten class he keeps his top 30.

The last pair of titles to talk about are Outstanding Sire (OS) and Outstanding Dam (OS). These are titles awarded to breeding cats who have produced kittens that have gone on to be GRCs or GRCAs in TICA — males who have 10 offspring who have granded or to females who have 5 children who have granded.

I hope I have all that right… Like I said, I have to look it up every time someone wants to know. Someday perhaps I’ll know the TICA points as well as I know CFA’s.

Cyra the Fish — known simply as Fish at her new home — is off to her first show this weekend. Good luck, baby Fish!

Ce’Nedra — now known as Skadi — arrived safe and sound at her new home. She decided she liked Heidi’s three year son and follows him everywhere. She’ll be heading off to a show in October in Nebraska for her first real show experience.

Talia is waddling around looking quite fat. Her size is never a good indicator of how many babies she’ll have, though. I don’t even try to guess any more. She is very loving with me and rather snippy with the other cats. Typical of her when she’s pregnant. I had been stuck on a theme for this litter’s names, but decided to give them Wheel of Time names. James Oliver Rigney, Jr (Robert Jordan — the author of the Wheel of Time series) passed away on September 16th. His 59th birthday would have been October 17th. Since I love the series and the babies are due near his birthday, I think it is fitting to honor him with another litter of WOT babies.

None of my girls have experienced morning sickness when pregnant, although I’ve heard some cats do. Wish I could say the same for my human daughter. Yes, Heather, I’m telling my entire world of crazy cat people (LOL!) your news. Heather is pregnant with her second child and once again having lots of fun with morning sickness. I completely sympathize because I spent a good part of my pregnancy with her throwing up. Maybe she learned it in the womb? Feel better soon, DD!

Flying Away

Thursday, September 27th, 2007

As I write this, Ce’Nedra is flying away (on an airplane — she didn’t suddenly sprout wings! <G>) to Salt Lake City where she’ll be put on another plane headed for Colorado. She’s been a very cuddly girl the last couple nights. I swear these kittens know what I’m talking about when I tell them they are going to live with their new families! She and Taiba both went to the vet on Tuesday for their last kitten shots, but only Ce’Nedra has been clingy since. Taiba is her usual independent, trouble-making self. Ce’Nedra has been following me around and snuggling even more at night. She loves her piece of mink (freed from a teaser) and I’d planned to send it with her, but she’d hidden it well — probably from Spaz, who also loves the mink — and I couldn’t find it. So instead, she’s traveling with a puff ball, a brand new crinkle ball and a blue mouse. Bug and Polgara were kind enough to take naps inside the carrier last night and this morning, so the blanket should smell like home. :-)

Danica is not coming until next week now, due to a weather forecast too warm for shipping her from her breeder’s home. Both Sondra and I are so excited to be getting her! She’ll be the first girl I’ve gotten from another cattery for several years and the first back from one of my girls (if you don’t count the two girls already living at LostWoods.) Another couple clues for those of you who are wondering who Danica might be! :-)

I have entered Fin in a CFA show in Chehalis, WA next weekend. If you live in western Oregon or Washington and want to take in a cat show, come see me. I’ll be clerking so I won’t have as much time as usual for chatting, but I’d love to meet you. I hope that Fin will pick up his winners ribbons (remember my post about titles?) and then will be able to start working on grand points in the near future — maybe in Salt Lake City in November.

Winter is on the way

Monday, September 24th, 2007

There’s snow on top the mountains outside Helena this morning. I know that fall just officially arrived, but here in Montana, fall often brings snow. We had a cold, rainy day yesterday. It was a good day for sleeping in and staying home. I guess that’s one good thing about not going to Colorado for the show this past weekend — I got to sleep in on Sunday. That doesn’t really make up for not spending time with my friends, though, so I still wish I could have gone.

McCoy got two finals at the show — as 3rd Best AB Kitten and 7th Best LH Kitten. Brenda printed out some of the new pictures of Ce’Nedra and Taiba and put them up in the benching area. Saturday morning I got a call from friend and fellow wegie breeder, Heidi Herman. She had seen Ce’Nedra in Albuquerque and now seeing her new pictures, Heidi decided that Ce’Nedra needed to go live with her.  And so later this week Ce’Nedra will be on a plane headed for Colorado. I’m very happy about this development as I had hoped Ce’Nedra would go to a show home. And I’ll get to see her when I do make it back to Colorado for shows. Brenda says there were people interested in Taiba, too, so I hope one of them will be interested enough (and be a suitable home) to contact me. I finally printed new business cards and gave Brenda a supply to hand out at shows — something she’d been wanting me to do for almost a year!

I made a new drape for the opening in Peanut’s box this weekend. Sorta like the painting project, it was something I’d planned last winter and didn’t get done. I’d bought a inexpensive comforter set at WalMart last winter, with plans to cut an opening sized piece out of the comforter to make the drape. The other part of the comforter and the pillow shams could be made into beds for Peanut. And the edges of the bedskirt would make matching valances for the two windows in the stud room. I got the drape and a couple beds made this weekend. Since the weather has been colder, Peanut has been hanging out in the lower part of his box and he seemed to like the new beds. I don’t know if he likes the drape, but he doesn’t mind it and it will keep his “cave” warmer this winter. Last winter I just draped a fleece blanket over the opening, but I think the comforter will provide more insulation.

On the subject of the stud room, I have hopes that our plans to sheet rock and re-panel the stud room will be more than a plan in a couple weeks. The room is very hard to heat with the ceiling open to the rafters and no insulation in the ceiling. So we are going to take down the wall paneling we put in last year, put up sheet rock on the walls and the ceiling, and insulate the ceiling. (The walls were insulated last year when we put up the paneling.) Then we’ll put new paneling on the walls. The panels are plastic coated — easy to clean up when you have a male that sprays. We’ll also make a smaller area near the back door for the dogs. Right now, the dogs get the back part of the stud room (it’s divided in two sections) at night and Beau has to be moved to the big cage each night. We also have to take all the cat stuff out of the dog’s area each night because Libby would chew it up if we left it. So it’s a bit of a pain each morning and night to move everything around. Once all that is done, we’ll build a new “cave” for Beau and I’ll use some more of the comforter and fabric to make beds and stuff for him — or other visiting boys in the future.

Muffet & Peanut Babies!

Thursday, September 20th, 2007

Muffet finally decided to have babies yesterday. The first born is a 4.5 oz daughter who was breach. After consulting with the vet, Patti decided that a C-section was in order and two more kittens were delivered — another girl and a boy. Two are silver classic tabbies with white, the other is possibly a brown classic and white — although she might also be silver. I’m sure it will be awhile before Patti gets pictures up on her website, but I’ll share pics here if she send me some in the near future.

Congratulations to Muffet, Peanut, and Patti!

Polgara, Too

Wednesday, September 19th, 2007

It figures… as soon as I give up on finding Polgara for pictures and download what I have, she appears. :-) So her page has been updated with a new picture of the very pretty girl, too.

A Few New Pictures

Wednesday, September 19th, 2007

I didn’t get to take outside pictures as it’s rather drizzly here this evening, but I brought in a couple autumn props and took a few photos anyway. New pictures of Ce’Nedra, Taiba, and Fin are on the website. Fin’s is on the Cats page. Ce’Nedra’s and Taiba’s are on their pages. Polgara was napping somewhere and missed out, but I’ll try to take some of her later or tomorrow.

Someone asked me when Polgara was leaving. At the moment, it’s up in the air. She is still not clear of the snorty sound of her breathing and since she was supposed to go as a show/breeding cat, there’s no way she’s leaving my house for now. She acts quite healthy, but sometimes she sounds awful. She’s still being treated and I hope one of these days she’ll be 100% healthy. In the meantime, we’re waiting for the kittens from Talia and Fin to see if one of them might be the right kitten for Polgara’s would-be mom instead.

Q & A

Tuesday, September 18th, 2007

A quick post tonight. I thought I’d answer a few questions and comments before I go to bed…

First of all, Basia is definitely coming to live here in Montana to be our Queen of Everything in Training. I hear from Jim and Donna that Tori has been giving her lessons and she’s an avid student. However, Basia is NOT Danica. Nor is Maxine Danica. Maxine is Sondra’s new kitten she got from McCoy’s breeder at the same time Brenda and I got McCoy. I had hoped that Danica would be in Sondra’s loving care by the end of the week (not that her breeder doesn’t love her and care for her!) but between kitten arrivals and busy schedules, I don’t think it’s going to happen until next week now. So you’ll all have to wonder for a bit longer.

Speaking of kitten arrivals… The Rockatts website has been updated with pictures of the new babies there. Check out little Eris! If Basia and Danica weren’t going to be the latest additions to the LostWoods family, I might be begging Sondra for her. :-) And in the update news, I’ve also added new pictures of the ForestKatz kittens to their site. The SassafrasKat kitten news is both sad and happy. The sad news is out of the ten babies, seven of them have crossed the Rainbow Bridge. The happy news is that the three remaining kittens are gaining weight and thriving without their human mom and dad having to supplement them now. They’ve been gaining without intervention since the weekend, so it’s looking like those three little snow babies (they are all white) are going to make it. Keep them in your prayers.

And then there’s Muffet… I think I wrote down the wrong dates for when Muffet and Peanut were fooling around, as their children still haven’t arrived. I went back and looked for email between Patti and me and found one from July 16th where I was asking about Muffet’s typical behavior when she was in heat. So… her due date is this week, rather than last. Hopefully Patti will soon forgive me for causing her to get stressed worrying about why the kittens hadn’t arrived by the weekend. And I hope Muffet will end the suspense and deliver those babies soon!

One last thing… Someone asked me about the pattern of patch tabbies. Patch tabbies (or torbies) can be mackerel or classic. It is sometimes hard to see the pattern amid the colors — and even worse if there is a lot of white. But the red patches will have the same pattern as the brown and you should be able to tell what they are.

I do owe you all a post about TICA titles and I’ll get to that in the next few days. I’m not going to Colorado :-( this weekend, so I’ll be home writing, cleaning, playing with cats.

What’s With All Those Letters?

Monday, September 17th, 2007

Cat shows, part 2 — or a discourse on points and titles.

Of course, part of the reason we go to shows is to display our cats and talk to visitors, but the big reason we go to shows is to win and earn titles for the cats. I’ll start by explaining a cat’s registered name, just in case some of you are unfamiliar with the format. Take, for example, Wegiekatt Star Shadow of LostWoods. The first word of his name is his breeder’s cattery - Wegiekatt. This can be more than one word (or it used to be allowable) but most breeders keep their cattery name a reasonable length as we are limited in the number of characters that we have for a cat’s name. The next part of the registered name is the actual cat name, in this case Star Shadow. Sometimes that’s the name we call the cat, but quite often it’s not. Star Shadow has never been called that — he’s Peanut, or a number of other names. The last part of the registered name — of LostWoods – is the owner’s cattery, if the cat is owned by someone with a cattery and if there’s room (enough characters left) to add it. Note that now and then you’ll see a name like Talia’s mama’s name: Meisterhaus Sarianna-of-Shalimar. When you see the hyphens between words like that, the “of” doesn’t designate a cattery, but part of the actual name of the cat.

Okay, so now you know — if you didn’t already — why our cats have such long names. So what do those letters at the beginning and sometimes at the end of a cat’s name mean? Those are titles and awards that the cat  has earned. I’ll start by explaining CFA titles and how they are earned.

A kitten in CFA can only earn two titles — Regional Winner (RW) and National Winner (NW). Well, there are some alternate titles they earn in the International Divison, but I’m going to be lazy and leave them out. The premise is the same. Adult cats can also earn RW and NW titles. RW is earned by being one of the top 25 cats in the class (Kitten, Championship, and Premiership) in their region for the show year. The show year runs from May 1st to April 30th. The NW title is earned by being in the top 25 cats in the championship for the year nationally or the best 20 in kitten or premiership class for the year. One other title earned annually is the Breed Winner (BW) title. It is given to the highest scoring cat of each breed in Championship for the year.

Cats accumulate “show points” toward earning the BW, NW, and RW titles. This is where the count for each class at the show is important. Show points are earned by beating other cats — either within the cat’s breed or within the entire class, regardless of the title (or lack of title) the other cats have. Show points accumulate over the entire show year, but start over at zero when the new show year starts.  Also, a kitten is allowed to keep points only from his or her 40 best rings for the year, while championship and premiership cats keep points from their 100 best rings. That does level the playing field a little bit for people who can’t/don’t want to show their cats every weekend. One other note… a kitten can earn a RW or NW as a kitten and then “age out” (turn 8 months old) and compete in one of the adult classes and earn another RW or NW title in the same year — if he or she is an outstanding cat. The points earned as a kitten don’t count toward the adult title, but neither do the 40 rings he’s already accumulated. He starts all over when he becomes an adult.

Potentially, a cat could be BW, NW, RW Mycattery Fluffy of Anothercattery. Of course, if that’s the case, Fluffy is also likely to have one other title tacked on to the front of her name — Grand Champion (GC).

When a cat turns 8 months old, he/she enters a show as an Open — a cat without a title. The first step is to earn his Winners Ribbons. Winners Ribbons are earned by being the best Open male or female in the color class in a ring. Once a cat has earned six Winners Ribbons, he is a Champion. For NFCs who don’t face a lot of competition within breed at most shows, a cat can easily be a Champion after one show since shows have six to eight rings. Judges can withhold Winners Ribbons from a cat they believe is not an acceptable example of the breed, but they rarely do unless the cat has a disqualifying fault.

If the cat is spayed or neutered, he will be competing in Premiership instead of Championship. Instead of earning the CH title, he will earn the title Premier (PR). So as you read this, if you’re thinking about Premiership cats, just substitute Premier in place of Champion — the process will be the same. The few differences between classes I’ll mention as they come up.

So now you have CH Mycattery Fluffy of Anothercattery. Fluffy goes to her next show and now she wants to not only earn the show points mentioned above, but she really wants to earn some ”grand points”. Grand points are earned by beating other Champions (or Premiers) either of the same breed or other breeds. Grand points accumulate until the cat grands or is no longer shown — they don’t expire at the end of the show year. During breed judging the judge will hang a purple ribbon for Best Champion in each breed — providing there’s at least one Champion in the breed at the show. Sadly, Fluffy doesn’t earn any points for that ribbon unless there are at least two Champions in her breed.  She has to beat someone to get points. So Fluffy will need to be in the final to earn some grand points.

When I talked about shows a few days ago, I talked about the top 10 cats in a ring. Try to forget about those cats for now. In Championship and Premiership there’s another part of the final I didn’t mention — the part where grand points are earned. It has nothing to do with the top 10, although a cat in this part of the final can be part of the top 10 — but he/she isn’t always.

So Fluffy was the best CH NFC. The first part of the final is called and Fluffy’s number is among the chosen few. You take her to the ring and see two other long hair cats and three short hair cats — six cats total — obviously an AB ring as both LH and SH cats are represented. If it were a specialty ring, there would only be three cats – either LH or SH. (In Premiership it will be two LH and two SH, four total.) These six cats are the best CHs of their breeds, although there are other breeds whose best CHs are not up there. (and there could be exceptions — as in two of the same breed up there, but let’s not go into something that rarely happens!) The judge then awards 3rd best LH CH, 2nd best LH CH, Best LH CH, followed by 3rd best SH CH, 2nd best SH CH, and Best SH CH. (He could do it in any order he wants, but has to give out those awards.) Then he decides between the cats who is the 3rd best AB CH, 2nd best AB CH, and Best AB CH. Obviously, if the cat is 3rd best LH CH, she can’t be Best AB CH, but if she Best LH CH, she could also be the Best AB CH. When Fluffy gets one of these awards, she earns points for beating the Champions of other breeds at the show, not just her own breed. If there are 20 AB Champions and Fluffy is the Best AB CH, she earns 19 points. The points earned are the count minus one for Best, 90% of the count minus one for 2nd Best, and 80% of the count minus one for 3rd Best. A Champion must earn 200 points to become a Grand Champion (GC). A Premier must earn 75 points to become a Grand Premier (GP). Additionally, a cat must have at least one final either as Best/2nd best/3rd best CH or a top 10 final to become a Grand Champion. She must also earn points from at least three different judges.

It is possible for a good cat to become a “One Show Grand”, but it’s rare enough to be a big deal to us crazy cat people. To be a one show grand — no special title awarded, just some bragging rights :-) — the cat must do very well at the show, plus there have to be enough cats competing to provide the required points. If the champion count at a six ring show is 20, there’s no way for a cat to earn 200 points at the show, even if he is the Best AB CH in every ring.

BTW, it’s traditional for the cat’s owner to celebrate a new Grand Champion or Grand Premier by having a “Grand Party” at a later show. Cake, snacks, even champagne are served. Granding is a big deal. That and we like to party! If you happen to visit a show and see a line of exhibitors waiting for cake near someone’s benching area, say congratulations to the people serving the cake.

One last title to talk about in CFA before I quit for the day. The title is one that is not earned directly by the cat competing in shows. Rather, it’s an award that even cats like Shira — who can’t compete because the dog bit her tail, leaving a disqualifying fault in the form of a tail kink — can earn by producing great examples of the breed. That title is Distinguished Merit (DM) and it is added on the end of a cat’s name. The title is awarded to a female cat who has produced at least five kittens who have granded or to a male cat with 15 offspring who have granded.

Since this post has gotten rather long — and I’ve spent quite a bit of time on it today – I’ll write about TICA titles and awards another day. Stay tuned!

Much Too Short

Sunday, September 16th, 2007

The weekend, that is! Here it is, Sunday night and I didn’t come close to doing everything I’d hoped. One of the big things not accomplished was new pictures of the fur kids. So maybe, just maybe, the weather will be nice when I get home from work tomorrow and I’ll take the kittens outside for some photos.

What did I do, you ask? Well, the majority of the weekend was spent working in the stud room. Last winter we built a 4′ x 4′ x 4′ box with some shelves on top for Peanut to hang out in when it’s cold and climb on when it’s not. We also built one for Comet, but his has since been moved out to the run to provide a way back into the stud room from outside. I’d primed the inside of the box, but I was trying to get Comet’s all done before he arrived and I never finished painting Peanut’s. So this weekend I finally did that. I also covered one of the posts that support the shelves with sisal to make a scratching post and covered the shelf inside the box with carpet. Next I caulked the inside of the box to keep drafts out. I then thoroughly cleaned the entire room. Next on the agenda is to take the comforter and bed linens I’d bought last year and make them into a bed and a drape for the front opening of the box to keep it warmer. I hope it won’t take me as long to do that as it did to get the painting done (nine months… )

I also did a few updates on the ForestKatz site — check out the newer pictures of Tori and Guri’s babies, including my cutie, Basia. Yes, my King of Everything (that would be my husband Ken) has finally given me the official go ahead to have Basia come live with us in a couple months. Jim and Donna took new pictures of the kittens today, so I’ll probably be posting them to their site tomorrow evening. While I was updating the site, I created individual pages for the kittens, so if you don’t get a chance to look at the current pictures, they’ll be on the individual pages later. And, Jim and Donna have an adult female available for adoption, should anyone be looking for a sweet girl for their family.

Beau and Kefira are becoming good friends and I think they are both happy to be together — Beau, because he has someone to keep him company and Kefira because she’s away from Shira, Fin, and Spaz. They aren’t exactly mean to her, but she doesn’t much like Fin’s and Spaz’s high spirits and wild games. It makes her rather grumpy when they tackle her.

Shira is still playing mom to the kittens and letting them nurse. Not that they are getting any milk, but they don’t care. They just like to nurse. Talia is already waddling, but she doesn’t look hugely pregnant. But then, her due date is nearly a month away. Kalispell is enjoying being a kitten now that she’s over wanting a man. And hunting has been good — three spoons made their way upstairs last night — one of them into our bed!

Muffet — Peanut’s girlfriend — has not had her babies yet. At least as of this morning she hadn’t. Patti’s going to have her hands full with two girls on the verge of giving birth any minute.

So that’s what’s new at LostWoods tonight. Oh, there was a big fire about two miles away from us this afternoon. It was burning just east of a state park to the north of us on the other side of the highway. They were using helicopters to dip water from the lake in the park to dump on the fire. They also had part of the highway closed down and people in the immediate vicinity were evacuated. We had the carriers all out and a list of what we needed to grab just in case, but we were never in any real danger. I’d encourage everyone to think about putting together a disaster plan — even if you’re not in the way of wildfires or hurricanes. You never know when you’ll have to leave in a hurry. Check out the brief story in my Cat Tails section if you need some basic ideas on creating that plan.

Good night everyone!

The Cave Lioness

Friday, September 14th, 2007

With the colder weather has come the return of Kefira to our bed at night. She usually snuggles under the covers between Ken and me about 10 p.m. and doesn’t leave until around 5 a.m. Napping under the blankets is a habit the kittens are taught by their Ken-dad. Ken lies in bed in the evening watching tv or reading, with his knees up. He invites the kittens to snuggle in the “dad cave” under the blankets and they love it. Most of them outgrow the habit, but Kefira never has. She insists on being between us, although she usually snuggles next to me. But she won’t sleep on my other side away from Ken — no, she must be between us.

Kefira’s other habit while in the cave is giving me baths. Apparently both she and I need baths before bedtime and she thoroughly washes my hand and arm. Should I try to pull my hand out from under the blanket before she is done, she’ll extend her claws and wrap her paws around my arm. Occasionally she’ll nip at my hand, as if warning me to hold still and be good. :-)

Michelle asked for some updated pictures. I’m going to try to get pics of the three kittens (Polgara, Ce’Nedra, and Taiba) this weekend. And who knows? Maybe the bigger cats will consent to pose as well. McCoy is a a bit harder for me to photograph as he is living in Colorado with Brenda. But I can always ask if she’ll take some new ones for me. I do have a few from the Albuquerque cat show, but they aren’t very good. IF I go to Colorado next weekend, I’ll try to get some of him then.

As for Miss Danica… all I’ll say is that her name at her current home is not Danica, so no use searching for her on other websites. :-) I’ll tell you all about her soon — probably the 20th.

Oh, and Tenobia has a new home. I knew that if I was patient the perfect home would come along where she could be the Queen of the House. This week I heard from a woman who is looking for an adult NFC and she sounded like just the right person for Nobie. So we’ve corresponded and now all that is left is working out how and when to get Nobie into her loving care. Nobie is such a sweetie, she deserves to have someone special to love her and only her. I’m so happy that person has come along.
