Busy, busy, busy!

I spent most of the weekend cleaning house, running errands, and kissing kittens. Sondra and her family are coming to visit the end of this week, so I needed to make sure the guest rooms are clean and ready for their visit — along with all my other weekend chores. I was also on call for work and spent a couple hours each day working.

I know… excuses, excuses! Where are Zak and Cyra’s pictures?! I did take a couple cute spontaneous photos of them at various times this weekend. Zak was sitting in the bowl I use for weighing them, just waiting for me to turn on the scale. :-) Cyra found a great place to nap — the basket of freshly laundered towels I’d just brought back from the laundromat. Yes, I’m still going there… Ken gave me a choice of getting a basic dryer right away or waiting a few weeks to get the washer & dryer I’ve been eyeing for the past couple years — the only catch being I’d probably have to go to the laudromat for several weeks to dry clothes until our budget allows and the new machines come in. (They have to be ordered.) A small sacrifice — especially since the air conditioning works quite well there and we don’t have a/c at home. Yes, it’s still hot here.

Tonight’s agenda is to get pictures of the MBs and the BBs and update the website with everyone’s status. Almost everybody has a home now, except for the couple girls I’m still evaluating. I decided to offer Keegan to someone — even though I was kinda waiting to place her last. Not only is she a good looking example of a NFC, she’s also the biggest cuddle bug in the house. Last night I sat down in my chair to watch “Ice Road Truckers” (it’s really interesting!) She was napping in the kitchen and saw me sit down. She jumped up and ran to the living room, climbed onto my lap and started purring. She loves being on my lap.

And speaking of cuddlers… Keiran has been sleeping with us every night. He prefers to snuggle up to Ken, but when he decides we should pay attention to him, he’s an equal opportunity pest. He likes to put his face right up to mine and rub his cheek against mine. It is so cute! Beth and Jeff, you’re going to love him — if only I could get him to you. I’ll write you privately about my latest idea for getting him to Albuquerque before the snow flies.

Good to hear that all the babies have homes waiting for them. But it is also a little sad thinking that they will be leaving soon and we won’t be hearing about their crazy antics:))….It is hard to let go.
It takes a very strong person to breed cats don’t it? To be able to let them go? I don’t have what it takes. My sister maybe getting married sometime next year. I dread leaving my babies with my vet to visit them. Everytime I speak to my family back home,I hesitate asking for information. While I should be considering it the joyful occasion it will be,I just can’t bear to be parted from these spoiled brats. What is it about these heart stealers that have the ability to melt you with a look? Do children do the same thing as well?

I’d scoop up Keegan if I had room for another kitty right now! I wish my girls were as affectionate as she sounds! They prefer the cat posts and other perches to sleeping or sitting with me. They have their moments of loving and cuddling, of course, but they’re fewer and more far between than I’d like!

I agree with Rangashrii; I couldn’t be a breeder because I couldn’t let the little critters go after becoming so attached to them. I admire you (and all the other ones) for finding great homes for them and being able to send them off. Those of us with pet Wegies couldn’t enjoy them without you!

Maybe we breeders are a strange lot? :-) Just kidding… I will say one of the hardest times in breeding is letting the kittens go. I learned early on not to think about letting them go, but to think about “how happy the people waiting for the kittens were”. That is how I deal with letting go.

Plus, I have the chance to love the sweet babies..at least for a time.

Your cats/kittens are beautiful. I just by accident found your pictures. I have a kitty that looks somewhat like yours that I adopted from the pound, she is my second kitty that I have adopted. When I am ready for another kitty hopefully you will have some. My previous kitties were 17 years old before I had to put them down and prior to those cats, I had one for 20 years before she passed. You can never love them enough! Can you?
