First Trip Outside

The Belgariad Babies got to go outside for the first time tonight and were very well behaved. Well, except when Garion thought he might want to climb up the trunk of the tree to get higher. But like I said this morning, I put them low enough that I can grab them before they get away. And so Garion’s plan was thwarted. Their new pictures are on the website.

I mentioned I’d post a picture of the cats and kittens in the cat room one of these days. While the floor is relatively picked up — I scrubbed this weekend and the kittens don’t have all the toys drug out again — here is one of how it looks at breakfast and supper time. It’s hard to walk through there when the feeding frenzy is on. (remember to click on the picture to see a bigger version.)

Peanut’s visiting girlfriend is about to go into heat (I think) and now thinks Peanut is pretty okay. Here’s a picture of Felis Audax Muffet of Wegiekatt:

One last thing before I close tonight… Baths. I don’t bathe my cats except before shows. Well, now and then Peanut gets a bath because whole males tend to be very greasy, especially their tails. But Shira who is six hasn’t had a bath since she was 5 months old. Once in a rare while someone — especially the very pregnant girls — will have a messy rear end, necessitating a “butt bath”, but even then I don’t give them a full bath. Most NFCs stay pretty nice looking without regular baths.

Should you decide to give your wegie a bath, the first trick, as I mentioned, is getting them thoroughly wet. It helps to have a second person around so you can pull (gently!) the fur back and spray or pour water down to the roots while the other person holds the cat. Then gently shampoo him/her. Rinse until you are sure the shampoo is all gone, then rinse some more. And yes, you do need to dry your baby if you want the coat to look straight and fluffy. If you want my full show bath directions, let me know and I’ll send them to you. One other thing… if you are thinking about bathing your cat, start when he or she is fairly young. Once they get older if they aren’t somewhat used to baths, they’ll be a real challenge to bathe!

Um… I have a feeling there was another comment or question I needed to respond to, but I’ve forgotten. So I’ll post this and check the comments. If there is something still waiting for my profound thoughts (LOL!) I’ll try to remember to talk about it tomorrow.

Thank you for the tips .I shall need to convince my husband to help me out:))).I can imagine his arguments. He is going to tell me take Kichchu to the vet and have them give him a bath:))) He thinks holding the kittens for a photo shoot is work:(
I would love to hear all the tips on bathing the brats but first I need to get the supplies. As soon as I am ready, I shall ask you for directions.Man,I wish my sister was nearby to give me hand. She is good with giving baths to cats:))
Ms.Muffett looks gorgeous. I have another question for you. I have separate dishes for the kittens at home. But they have to eat out of the same bowl. Never mind that I have the bowls lined up next to one another. Why do they do that? I think I am going to have to get a large plate to feed them, from here on.

Ms.Lisa, The cats and kittens look beautiful , all lined up gracefully and neatly around the food plates. It is a sight to look at. I don’t know about the frenzy but they look too cute:))Who is the bigger cat standing in between the first and second groups? Poor thing probably got pushed out of the huddle! Aren’t they just beautiful? So bright and colorful! Ms.Lisa,I am in love with your kitties:)))

Sorry for leaving so many notes. I just can’t seem to remember them all at the same time. I was thinking it would be great to hear from the older cats. I know they all wrote to us when they came home to Lostwoods. But I would love to know what they feel now that they have been home and seen so many little ones come and go.Maybe not all of them at the same time but one by one telling us how they like and dislike about disrespectful little brats that only want to play and sleep:))For example I would love to know Uncle Zeke’s training techniques for the kids. Or how Queen Shira rules her kingdom in perfect harmony against teenage rebellion.Okay,I admit I have a lot of time at my disposal but wouldn’t it be nice? Just a suggestion is all:)))..Didn’t mean to make more work for you though.

Isn’t that Talia between the groups? Fin at the bottom of the page, and all three litters around them? Kali looks to be in the photos too, I could be mistaken though! Anyways, I love this pic, so many adorable ones.

On a side note, my cat seems to get bathed regularly. He jumps in the shower anytime I am in there if he gets in the bathroom before I close the door. He stands in the back but gets enough wet. When he gets “REALLY DIRTY” i bathe him. He just sits in the kitchen sink and looks at me lik “you know how silly this looks right?” but puts up with it. Usually afterwards he shakes off and finds my husbands computer tower to sit on while he fixes his fur (its warmest place in the house).
